Learn a lesson from a fitbit!

I don’t know about you, but I sense it could well be the case, that life has become rather overwhelming to say the least. The world around us appears to be collapsing at a rate of knots. It is literally falling apart! We are being bombarded with bad news from all sides, and the world is growing more and more evil and dark by the day!

And it is when we allow these things to crowd in and overwhelm us, taking our eyes off Jesus and watching the storm thundering around us, that we flounder.

Some weeks ago, partly due to being unwell and partly carelessness before that, I was having trouble with my FitbitFitbit - Inspire 3 Fitness Tracker - Lilac Bliss & Black watch. It seemed to be losing power very fast – normally lasts for days before needing recharging, now it would barely last a day without being recharged. It did not appear to be functioning normally as before & then it started showing the wrong time of day …. Why?

For weeks on end, I had not bothered to wear it regularly, nor had I synchronized the watch with its app on my phone. I had been very negligent. Something alerted me to the fact that I had failed to synchronize my watch & mobile phone. I set about restoring the “communication” and needless to say, the Fitbit watch is performing 100% again!!

The Lord spoke to me through the Fitbit incident. It is SO easy to get distracted by what we see happening around us – in our personal lives and in the world around us. And it is not surprising then that we may feel as if God has forgotten us! For those of us (and this should be all of us!) who are eagerly awaiting the return of Jesus for His Bride – the true followers of Jesus – we could be growing weary of waiting! BUT GOD has not forgotten us. We just need to take time to get back into a close relationship with Him – restore that deep meaningful relationship – synchronize your relationship & restore fellowship with your Saviour and Lord!

And remember this, no matter how bad things get, God can and wants to use you us. We are here to be salt and light to the world. So, when we get to feeling overwhelmed because of all the chaos and darkness around us in the world, wait on the LORD! Hold on to the hope found in His Word & remember these truths:

  1. God is still in control (He is still on the Throne & He will remember His own!)

  2. Our victory has been won at the cross of Calvary – nothing will change the outcome

  3. The Church will prevail – “I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it” (Matthew 16:18)

  4. Our God-ordained mission has not changed: “…shine as lights in the world, midst a crooked and twisted generation” (Phil 2:15)

  5. God will empower us!Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the (HIS) power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Jude 24-25)

LORD, help us to walk in fellowship with You. Help us to hold on to the precious truths – You are in control. Our victory was won at Calvary. The Church will prevail. That we are to shine as lights in this dark world of sin. Thank you for the glorious Truth that You empower us. In the mighty name of Jesus!! Amen
